CHOICES Day: Complete and Honest Information about Careers in Science. We invite a panel of 12 scientists representing careers in industry, government, universities and colleges, and scientific publishing. The program offers a day of large and small group meetings as well as common meals where our students and postdocs have an opportunity to talk with our guests. The day begins with each visitor presenting a fifteen-minute overview of their chosen career, with discussion of why they chose a particular career track, the advantages and disadvantages, how to prepare for a similar career, future opportunities in the area, and other factors. These short presentations are followed by question/answer sessions. The day is filled out with small group meetings.
CHOICES Day is held every third year so that all of our graduate students and most of our postdocs have at least one opportunity to participate. Participants have found this to be an invaluable opportunity to get information about careers in science. Follow the links for additional information:
